This week I had a vast amount of fun creating a very special birthday cake for a client. The client wanted the cake to celebrate his mother's 80th birthday. She loves spring flowers and my client wanted the top of the cake to be covered with a large bunch of spring flowers.
So....I set to and made masses of sugar-paste Lily of the Valley:
They all came together in a bouquet...
which I wired and balanced so that when it was removed from the cake it could be kept as a permanant keepsake.
The birthday cake itself was a 12 inch round chocolate cake, covered in pale blue fondant and deocrated with white polka dots: and here it is... the finished cake...voila!
I'm pleased to report that it was very well received.
